The Cemetery was established 1863. The head stones in the monumental section of the cemetery tell the story of how tough life was in those early pioneering days.

Belmont Park is a beautiful oasis of parkland in the centre of Avenel, generously donated by Avenel residents for the whole community to enjoy.

The Old Courthouse was built in 1876 and is situated at the corner of Queen St and Ewings Rd.

The original Post Office on Queen Street was built in the 1850s. The historic building now houses a medical practice, cafe and pharmacy.

Avenel War Memorial at Jubilee Park. Pay your respects in the Great War Memorial garden. View the well maintained cannon.

The sandstone Hughes Creek Bridge at Avenel was built in 1859. The Bridge is perhaps best known for its association to Ned Kelly, who at the age of 11, rescued Richard Shelton who had fallen into the creek 150 metres downstream from the Bridge.

The Old Police Residence at 23 Queen Street was built in the 1870s. It now houses the Avenel Community Hub and Avenel Library.
